Post - Production (Social Media Research)

Before I began my social media promotional concept, I researched how my favourite artists have promoted their songs, and how they kept up their social media presecence, to engage with their fans.

Because the ultimate goal is to maximise the sales of my digipack, so I looked into their marketing strategies, and how they have kept fans interested upon the release of their albums, EPs, or singles.

TWITTER (X):

Gracie Abrams:

the pinned post is about her new released album so when anyone comes across her page, they would be aware instantly.

This post on its own includes behind the scenes photos of her recording the song and the promotion of her new vinyl record and the merchandise (crewneck and joggers set) that's been released to promote her album.

Here she posts her new vinyl, emphasising that it's "Limited edition" to create more demand.

A common theme between these music artists is their tour promotional posts. The tour announcements are also released upon the release of their albums, EPs, or singles. This is because it's the perfect time promote tour dates, whilst there's a lot of interest surrounding the release of their work.

Another one.

Wallows:

A couple things here:
  •  The promotional video - informs the date that their new album will be released, which keeps fans on the hook, with their social media activities. As a result, interactions are increased which improves content recommendation by the Twitter (X) algorithms.
  • Vinyl concepts for their new album - They have created multiple variations of designs to maximise sales because they recognise that their fans have different tastes and preferences. Although, this will be expensive in production, it's possible for them considering they have a mass following, and are therefore profit - making.
  • Tour announcements for the new album - Again, like Gracie Abrams' they have released tour information to create "buzz" and excitement upon the release of the album, to increase views, purchases and therefore, revenues.

Laufey:

Again, she has pinned the announcement that her single "Goddess" is out now.

Memes like this are either posted by the artists or reposted from fan accounts dedicated to them. It's a great promotional method if the target audiences are teenagers or children because it can contribute to the fans feeling like they're a part of a community (the fan base), since everyone might find the content in the meme, relatable.

Niki Zefanya:

Another common theme between these artists are the profile picture and the cover picture on their twitter accounts being related to their album release.

Tour dates post.

Album release post - Along with this post, is a statement that explains how much hard work and dedication he has put into creating this piece of work. The effect is that his fans would feel more appreciative towards his album, and may be more enticed to view it, listen to it or buy the merchandise and  tour tickets.

Madison Beer:
Unlike Twitter (X), Instagram has a structure that allows the posts to be arranged in a more aesthetically pleasing way. Madison Beer makes use of this feature by ensure her posts have similar colour schemes that includes: brown, white, black etc.

It all works cohesively, which makes her page more satisfying to scope through, but it also maintains a certain level of professionalism as she is a public figure amongst being a musician. Therefore, in a way, her social media is also a way that she could market herself and the brand she's trying to build for success.

Her "pinned" post announces the tour dates and locations for her new album "spin".
After fans have listened to the songs in her new album, they may be loyal enough to purchase tour tickets to see her perform live.

Her marketing team recognises this timing, so releasing the tour dates upon the arrival  of her new album is crucial to obtain high sales revenues.

This is a very simple vinyl promotional post, which the teenagers in this generation call "minimalist". This tends to attract more attention from the demographic because it's a style that's trending. As a result, they're enticed to buy her vinyl album.

Here is the second part of the same post.

Laufey:
The same thing applies for laufey's instagram posts.

An appreciation announcement to thank her fans for wanting to see her perform live at the Hollywood Bowl, as the tickets are "sold out".

Again, her "pinned" post is an announcement of the release of her new single.

Gracie Abrams:
This post is a reminder to her London fans that her concert is later that night. It may add onto the fans' excitement and eagerness to see her perform live. Posts like these help keep fans loyal.

This video shows the appreciation posts she has made for her fans. Sharing her favourite posts shared by fans in TikTok, showing the cakes they've made and decorated to celebrate the release of her new album. This brings her fanbase closer, which keeps them eager to consume the work she releases.

Niki Zefanya:
This is an appreciation post towards her listeners on Spotify for allowing her to reach a new milestone.

Overall:
I have realised the trends and the themes used by these artists to hook their fans and maintain sales. I will now I apply their marketing strategies to market my own single, "Letter 2 Him".
