Production (Behind the scenes: Music video shoot)
We shot the music video in different locations: my room, the park and in school. This is because the town I live in is the only place that's the most accessible to me at the time.
The equipment I used:
A tripod
Canon camera
+ Sony cam corder and my phone (for extra shooting)
Lighting:
Throughout the video, I ensured there was a light source even in the dark so that details are shown clearly. For instance, the scenes in my room required my lamp, which worked in favour for the filming because it made the scenes more dramatic. I experimented on the angles of the lamp so we can maximise aesthetic and reduce shadows.
Behind the scenes photos:
school hallways:
We had to film this during the breaks so that the halls would be empty as the other students were outside of the school.
At the library:
To replicate the "dolly" movement, I had to be innovative because I don't have access to a track that I could put the camera on for movement. So, I borrowed this moving chair and first tried to shoot the scene by pushing the chair whilst I tried to balance the camera on a book on top of the chair.
This failed because the clip ended up being too shaky due to the roughness of the movement of the chair since the floor was carpet and is therefore, not a smooth surface.
This time, I sat on the chair so I could stabilise the camera as the chair moved. Then I got one of my friends to push me so the movement would be smoother instead of me trying to push myself.
This worked wonders so we used this technique to film this scene. Although, it took many tries since the speed of the chair couldn't be controlled at times.
My room:
This is the beginning scene which was filmed at my room. I used a tripod so the camera would stay at a certain height. Again, I had to replicate the dolly movement so, I just pushed the tripod along the floor which worked well because my floor is made out of smooth tiles.
I initially planned this scene differently. I was supposed to screen record what was happening on the laptop screen. However, after careful consideration and evaluation, I realised that it would be a much better transition if I filmed my actor doing these activities in real time. I am happier with the results I got by doing this, than if I went with the screen recording idea because it resulted in a much smoother transition.
This was the last scene filmed. Again, I had to be innovative because I didn't have the resources for a proper high angle shot. So, I got up on a chair high enough to get a relatively close high angle shot.
